Ai-Fi Central

Inverting the Internet

Are you naked online? Are you concerned about the various ways that people may use your Internet identity, including the ways bad guys can bully, stalk or steal from you aided by the information they find about you online? Isn't GDPR or RtbF the equivalent of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted? If your answer is "yes" to these questions, then you may find this app substantially reduce your unwanted Internet exposure.

Ai-Fi Central is your gateway into a secure shield for protecting your web browsing, social networking, digital safes, and many other privacy-preserving utilities, based on our comprehensive Ai-Fi.net infrastructure.

The re-architected and blockchain-reinforced cloud infrastructure of Ai-Fi.net manages to invert the Internet and allows you to connect with one another without resorting to the traditional approach that almost always involves certain service providers as go-betweens. It accomplishes this by allowing you to mobilize your personal network assets for interconnectivity without relying on any third parties unnecessarily.

DiD (Distributed identity) and Ai-Fi Wallet

We didn't ask for you to register or sign up for an account, which is of no use to us as we are not part of the Surveillance Capitalism that profits from tracking your surfing habits. Instead, you are given an Ai-Fi Identity Wallet with a large number of unique crypto key pairs (public/private keys), each of which may be attached to specific PII (Personally Identifiable Information) of yours for authentication purposes. Those key pairs also work as crypto accounts capable of making crypto payments. Instead of keeping a tab on you with an Ai-Fi account, we will charge a reasonable fee on your use of various Ai-Fi services from any of your crypto accounts in your wallet anonymously. All fees are carefully tallied and reported with satisfaction guaranteed.

Your PII (Personally Identifiable Information) is never collected by Ai-Fi.net and is protected by your Wallet in this app in as secure a manner as any Bitcoin account. This is how we implement our DiD-based services when involving any of your PIIs without a centralized CA (Certificate Authority) to vouch for your many identities. Note that there are many different wallets we implement for various purposes. For example, our PlexiWallet (in our CounterSeal product series) is a completely different wallet that is designed as a fortified alternative to the generic cryptocurrency wallet without requiring your carrying around a hardware token but with a much stronger security protection. The wallet for your identities in the context of this application and others can be referred to more precisely as Identity Wallet.

Since Ai-Fi.net plays a secondary and subservient role only to assist you in conducting your private business among your friends and within your private domains, this Ai-Fi Central app tends to take a biggish role in managing all matters Ai-Fi related without involving Ai-Fi.net as a service provider. For instance, to interact with other Ai-Fi users, you typically render your email address backed up by a key pair to identify yourself, which is strictly between yourselves end to end without the participation of Ai-Fi.net. You may be interested in learning more about how your privacy is preserved and carefully balanced against the need to interact with your friends and family here.

TOFU (Trust On First Use)

Without relying on Ai-Fi.net to vouch for your identity, you are required to establish that all-important "trust" yourself when interacting socially with other Ai-Fi users. For instance, when sending or receiving Ai-Fi SecureEmail from your partners the first time, you confirm or deny the authenticity of the party or parties you are corresponding with through certain "out of band" channels such as phone calls, FaceTime, Whatsapp, WeChat, or other means you have already established and trusted as reliable in the past with the corresponding parties. Once confirmed, the trusted parties backed by their unique key pairs are entered into your Ai-Fi Whitelist which is in turn relied upon for follow-on interactions. This mechanism of establishing the trust relationship based on the careful identity verification at the first time when messages are exchanged is called TOFU (Trust On First Use). We believe that, when your privacy is at stake, it is better to be decentralized and relying on yourself than centralized behind any "identity providers"

Since the email addresses you bind to the secure Ai-Fi SecureEmail are carefully maintained with TOFU enforcement, they are frequently used to establish trust relationship among Ai-Fi users. For example, the ACL (Access Control List) or the white list of allowed users for entering your private domains are based on your TOFU-authenticated email addresses. This is why your email addresses feature prominently at first when setting up your initial Ai-Fi environment.

Your Ai-Fi Home Servers

Ai-Fi.net affords you the capability of expanding your "intranet" or private domains into an integrated whole. You can build your social networks privately without needing to rent public IP addresses or adopt public cloud resources, with Ai-Fi providing the untrackable glue for interconnections through the DAP (Domain Access Proxy) foundational support. To take advantage of the DAP connectivity, you need to own one or more "Ai-Fi Home Servers", which function as gateways to your private networks and/or publicly accessible network servers for hosting your own private social networks. Ai-Fi Home Servers are open sourced and run on many popular hardware platform

The Ai-Fi Infrastructure

You may maintain multiple Home Servers running as an integrated Domain of multiple Branches protected by individual Home Servers. A separate document is offered to describe how this integrated intranet Domain can be constructed.

Ai-Fi Central Main Display

Ai-Fi Central offers a unique set of privacy-preserving functions. Currently implemented are described below.

Shortcuts

This is a collection of most handy functions extracted from various tools represented by those application icons on the lower part of the display:

Standalones

This is a collection of standalone applications that are immediately useful through your Ai-Fi Central app assisted by Ai-Fi.net:

Home-Server-Assisted Apps

The second row of applications requires the assistance of external hardware devices, known as Ai-Fi Home Servers, which function as firewalls to your "domains" where you wall-in your valuable assets behind a clearly demarcated security perimeter protected by those home servers. Those Home Servers are also where some of the private Ai-Fi services are hosted. You can set up your own private Home Servers or rely on other people's Home Servers if you are allowed to use their services hosted on their servers (by being entered into the ACL, the Access Control List, of their servers.)

Those Home Servers are offered both as open sources in Docker containers for supported platforms and as pre-installed Ai-Fi-specific packages over generic hardware.

Currently offered in this category:

SmartHome: This Ai-Fi app is based on the open source Home Assistant with its server running on our Ai-Fi Home Server.

HomeCloud: This is the collection of remote file sync applications based on the open source NextCloud. Ai-Fi makes it possible to host your NextCloud server over your Home Server over our Ai-Fi DAP services so you can physically in control of your server for absolute privacy.

RemoteDesktop: This is a port of Apache Guacamole so you can remotely access of your Windows PC or Mac over Ai-Fi DAP services behind the Home Servers.
